GUNFIRE ON MOORLAND AVENUE

On July 22, 2014 at approximately 12:37PM, Sonoma County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to gunfire in the Moorland area of Santa Rosa. A neighborhood resident called 911 and reported hearing gun shots and then saw males running away from the scene.

A Deputy arrived within three minutes and did not locate any suspects or victims. A total of five Deputies searched the area on Moorland Avenue between Thistle Lane and Gio Drive.

The caller said that there were three males dressed in blue and other clothing, wearing blue handkerchiefs covering their faces. The bandanas prevented better individualized descriptions as their faces were obscured. They were described as Hispanic juveniles, from 15-18 years old. They fled on foot toward Neville Way.

A Deputy recovered a shell casing from a handgun on Moorland, in the location the caller reported hearing the gunfire. Deputies canvassed the neighborhood and contacted several residents. There found no victims or damage. No one stated they had heard or seen anything unusual.

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with information about this incident, or any crimes, to call our Investigations Tip Line at 707-565-2185. The line is open 24-hours and you can remain anonymous if you desire.
