Modesto, CA - Several specialized units served a search warrant in southwest Modesto that led to the recovery of assault weapons and ammunition.

This morning at about 8:45 AM members of the Modesto Police Department’s Street Gang Unit (SGU), Modesto Narcotics Enforcement Team (MNET) and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) served a search warrant at a home in the 1700 block of Victor Court. Famous Adams, 20-years-old, and Lace Davis, 30-years-old, were arrested during the investigation and warrant service.

The search warrant was a result of an investigation where Adams was identified as a shooter in a careless shooting incident in front of the residence. He is a convicted felon who is on probation and cannot possess firearms.

As the warrant was being served, Adams, who is a documented gang member, ran from the residence in an attempt to elude police. He was quickly apprehended in a backyard several houses away. Once inside the residence, officers recovered two assault weapons, a handgun, a silencer and several high capacity magazines for the assault weapons.

Adams was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail for resisting arrest, violation of probation, possession of an assault weapon, possession of a silencer, felon in possession of ammunition and felon in possession of a firearm. Davis was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for resisting arrest, possession of an assault weapon and possession of a silencer.

In 2013 SGU recovered over 140 guns from gang members who illegally possessed them. This year they have recovered 72. Sergeant Scott Myers of the Street Gang Unit said, “We will continue our efforts to suppress gang activity and take illegal weapons off of the street, to make Modesto a safer place to live.”
