#LASD Detectives Seeking Owner of Property Believed To Be Stolen. Property May Belong To Young Child. PHOTOS
On Tuesday, July 15, 2014, deputies assigned to the Parks Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department arrested Manuel Cortez, a 33-year-old male from Val Verde (unincorporated Los Angeles County) for his alleged involvement in a residential “hot prowl” burglary. This burglary took place on the 30300 block of Arlington Street, Val Verde. Parks Bureau deputies learned that Mr. Cortez allegedly forced his way into the residence that was occupied by his acquaintance. Once inside the residence, Mr. Cortez allegedly stole power tools, cell phones, a GPS unit, and a Nintendo Gameboy with game, among other items (ref -08960).
As this investigation has progressed, detectives believe that some of the property recovered during the arrest of Mr. Cortez could have possibly been stolen in another burglary or theft. Detectives are asking the public’s help in identifying possible stolen property and finding possible victims.
One piece of property in particular is a Nintendo Gameboy SP (silver with flames on it). Inside the Gameboy was a game titled, “Super Mario World” with the name, “Haley” handwritten on the front, and, “Johnson” written on the back. Detectives believe this video game system could possibly belong to a young child in the Santa Clarita Valley area.
If you, or someone you know, have had some items stolen recently (SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS), please contact Detective Perry Tardif at [email protected] or Detective Adam Dorman at [email protected].
If you have any information that you feel would further this investigation, or if you know the identities of any additional suspects you can always call the LA Regional Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS and remain anonymous.
No further information is available at this time. This investigation remains active and ongoing and is being investigated by both Parks Bureau and Santa Clarita Valley Station Detectives.
