Newark, California (Monday, July 21, 2014)
On July 21, 2014 at approximately 0438 hours, Newark Police Department (NPD) Police Officers and Alameda County Fire Department Paramedics responded to a reported traffic collision involving injuries in the area of Newark Boulevard and Bellhaven Ave. Officers arrived on scene and found that a West Coast Trucking waste management vehicle was involved in a collision with a parked vehicle, causing damage to a tree and live power lines. PG&E responded to render the power lines safe. The driver, a 59 year old male, sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Intoxication did not appear to be a factor. The cause of the collision is still under investigation by the Newark Police Department Patrol Division.

Road crews are still currently working on cleaning up the area. Southbound traffic on Newark Boulevard is expected to be closed until approximately 3:00 PM.
