Two Evansville Men Arrested for Brief Chase
Warrick – Friday night, July 18, at approximately 10:48 p.m., Senior Trooper Matt Lockridge was patrolling Lincoln Avenue near Clint Road when he clocked a vehicle traveling westbound at 70 mph in a 35 mph zone. Trooper Lockridge immediately activated his emergency lights and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver continued westbound at a high rate of speed. The vehicle turned south onto Estate Drive and then onto Deerwood Court, which is a dead-end. The vehicle was found parked and abandoned. Additional officers arrived to assist in locating the driver and passenger. During the search, Newburgh Police Officer Eric Mitchell and his K-9, Alex, located the driver, Jonathan Goergen, 19, and his passenger, Drew Ellis, 18, both from Evansville. Goergen was hiding in a bush approximately 200 yards south of the vehicle. Ellis was found sitting on a back porch of a residence on Estate Drive. They were both arrested without further incident and taken to the Warrick County Jail where they are currently being held on bond.
