Junior Police Academy: 18 years of Excellence
Ripon Ca. – Since 1997, the Ripon Police Department has been providing young citizens with the chance to get a behind the scenes look at police work. JPA students learn about police radio codes, traffic stops, high risk calls and patrol tactics. Over one thousand students have graduated from JPA classes. This year the Ripon Police Department was honored by the presence of Phillip LeConte, the Executive Director of the Jr. Police Academy. Mr. LeConte came to Ripon from Texas, just too present staff with certificates of appreciation. The Ripon Police Department has one of the most successful, and longest running programs in the nation. School Resource Officer Trevor McGinnis has been the primary JPA instructor for the last 6 years. Officer McGinnis was honored with his own certificate of appreciation. JPA students, their family and friends had a pizza party to celebrate their graduation from the Junior Police Academy.
