Preventing Car Burglaries - Vista

There were 156 car break-ins in the City of Vista last summer. The Vista Sheriff's Station wants you to be safe. Car burglary is really one crime you can help us prevent.

All car burglaries have one thing in common: something to steal. Car burglaries are "crimes of opportunity." You can stay away from the radar of car burglars by following these simple steps:

* Lock all your doors even if you plan to be gone for only a brief time. CLOSE all your windows, no matter the weather.
* Never leave your car running, even to dash in a store or if you forgot something at home.
* Don't leave valuables in your car.
* Never leave keys in the ignition or in the car.

If you see something suspicious, say something. Call the Sheriff's Department at (858) 565-5200.

You can remain anonymous and be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest. Call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
