Beware of Telephone Scams
On July 18, 2014 the Morgan Hill Police Department received multiple calls from community members stating they had received a call asking for money because they had a warrant for their arrest. The suspect tells the individual they have an outstanding warrant and it they want to take care of it, they needed to go to 7-11 or Rite Aid and deposit $750 into Green Dot. The Morgan Hill Police Department, State or City law enforcement agency or any Federal agency would never request or ask a individual to wire or send money to resolve a warrant or fee. The individual would be provide the necessary information to come to the police department or the appropriate court to handle the matter.
“Morgan Hill Police Department wants everyone to know they should never send money to anyone without verifying their information. If you do have a concern about a warrant you can always contact the Morgan Hill Police Department.”
