Forest City Police Chief Jay Jackson presented Detective Sergeant Tommy Turner with his 25-year service pin. Detective Sergeant Tommy Turner was hired on July 20, 1989 and he has served the department in many different capacities during his career. In his current assignment, Detective Sergeant Turner served as the department evidence/crime scene investigator, polygraph examiner and evidence room manager. Chief Jackson commented, “We are very fortunate to have such an experienced police officer and investigator handling and overseeing these specialized areas. We look forward to him serving the Town of Forest City for many years to come.”
Chief Jay Jackson and Captain Donnie Hensley presented Sergeant Donnie Ruppe with his Region C Criminal Justice Law Enforcement Committee Citation awarded by the committee on April 22, 2014. Captain Hensley recommended Sgt. Ruppe for his investigation related to citizen complaints concerning possible drug activity in the area of Thompson Street. Sgt. Ruppe conducted a vehicle stop of a suspicious vehicle. By conducting a thorough investigation, he was able to make an arrest for the possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, driving while license revoked, expired tag and an inspection violation. While Sgt. Ruppe was on the vehicle stop, Central Communications received several calls from citizens expressing their gratitude toward Sgt. Ruppe and the Forest City Police Department for helping to reduce the drug activity in their neighborhood. Chief Jackson commented, “Sgt. Ruppe was recognized by the most important group for his actions, those of the community he is called to serve. I would like to express by gratitude for his vigorous investigation related to complaints from our community.”
