Early AM downtown traffic stops yields gun, narcotics, two arrests...

This morning at 1:32 AM, an APD officer stopped a green 1996 Chevrolet SUV near 10th and S. Taylor for a traffic violation.  The vehicle’s buyer tag was expired.  While speaking to the driver, the officer detected an odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle.  A warrant check on the driver, Christopher Allen Smith WM 27, showed that he had an outstanding city warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia.  Officers arrested him and found that he was in possession of a small amount of marijuana.  The passenger was Stephanie Denise Aycock WF 22.  Officers searched her purse and found a set of scales and a loaded .22 caliber revolver.  She was taken into custody on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawfully carrying a weapon.  Officers searched the vehicle and found about 22 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine concealed in the vehicle’s console.  Smith was booked into the Potter County Detention Center for possession of a controlled substance less than 400 grams, possession of marijuana under two ounces, possession of drug paraphernalia, and the outstanding warrant.  Aycock was booked on the weapons and paraphernalia charge.
