Police Investigating Afternoon Shooting on Tracewood Cove that Sent Two Men to the Hospital; One of the Shooting Victims Shot the Other
Jackson police are investigating an afternoon shooting that sent two men to the hospital, and investigators have determined that one of the men shot the other.
Around 1:45 p.m., officers were called about a shooting on Tracewood Cove. A 20-year-old Jackson man was transported to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital with gunshot wounds. He remains in the hospital in serious condition.
While searching the area, police discovered a second gunshot victim in an apartment in the 800 block of Old Hickory Boulevard. Officers called for an ambulance, and paramedics transported an 18-year-old Bolivar man to Jackson General Hospital for gunshot wounds. He remains in the hospital in guarded condition.
Investigators determined that the two shootings were related, and the shooting began on Tracewood Cv. Further investigation revealed that the Bolivar man shot the Jackson man following an argument. A second unknown man then shot the Bolivar man.
When investigators attempted to interview the Bolivar man about the shooting, he became uncooperative.
Officers are currently guarding the Bolivar man. When he is released from the hospital, he will be transported to the Madison County Jail. His name is being withheld pending formal charges.
The shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Jackson Police Department's Major Crimes Bureau at 731-425-8400 or Crime Stoppers at 731-424-8477 (TIPS). Submit a cyber tip at jmcrimestoppers.org and click on “web tips”.
