TITLE: LA County STAR Deputies Put on Summer Camp at Calamigos Ranch
Every summer, The STAR Unit of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department (Success Through Awareness and Resistance) puts on a summer camp at Calamigos Ranch with the help of Lost Hill's Station's Juvenile Team. Each day, 100+ kids are kept busy with inflatable water slides, pool activities, paddleboat rides, improv soccer and flag football games as well as team building activities. Certain "field trip" days allow kids to enjoy outings at places like Malibu's Paradise Cove, Magic Mountain, and Hurricane Harbor. Law Enforcement demonstrations from teams such as SWAT and the Bomb Squad round out each day's adventures.
Two five-day camps are held during the month of July and this camp is open to the public. This program fills up quickly with students and usually consists of kids ages 8-12 from the cities of Hidden Hills, Agoura Hills, Westlake Village, Calabasas and Malibu.
