UPDATE #LASD-Homicide Assisting Hawthorne PD with Shooting Death Investigation, 12600 blk Prairie Ave., Hawthorne.

NARRATIVE:

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide detectives are continuing to assist Hawthorne Police Department regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a male adult.

The victim was the driver of a vehicle which was stopped, in an alley, to the rear of the 12600 block of Prairie Avenue, Hawthorne. The suspect drove adjacent to the victim and stopped. The suspect produced a handgun and shot the victim. The victim drove forward several feet before crashing into a wrought iron gate and coming to a stop. The passenger was uninjured. The suspect drove away in a dark colored SUV.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The investigation is on-going.
