Updated charges stemming from 6-9-14 incident on Pineridge Drive...

***UPDATED 7-16-2014***The suspect Gustavo Ferrusquilla has been charged with additional offenses since the original arrest.   On 6-19-14, the Randall County DA’s office accepted charges of burglary of a habitation under cause #25266 against Ferrusquilla.  These charges were linked to a 5-28-14 case in which a 2011 Nissan Xterra was stolen from an open garage on Garwood Street.  That vehicle was recovered two days later and physical evidence linked him to the offense.  Ferrusquilla’s initial arrest charges were declined, with the DA’s office instead accepting charges of aggravated robbery under cause #25276 on 6-24-14.  On 6-30-14, the RCDA’s Office accepted charges of credit card abuse and a second count of theft over $1500 but less than $20,000 under cause #25285.  These charges were linked to the 6-6-2014 burglary of a vehicle on Notre Dame.  In that incident, electronic equipment and personal identifiers including credit cards were stolen.  A stolen card was used that day to purchase a 50 inch television.   On 7-15-2014, APD auto theft detectives filed a charge of burglary of a habitation, cause #25321, through the Randall County District Attorney’s Office.  That charge was related to a May 25th burglary on Tripp Street in which a vehicle was stolen from a garage.

APD White Collar Crimes investigators filed complaint #25284 charging Genaro Hernan Hernandez with one count of theft of property over $1500 but under $20,000 stemming from the auto burglary on Notre Dame St.  He was originally booked on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.  These charges were declined, with the RCDA’s office accepting formal charges of aggravated robbery under complaint #25275 on 6-24.

Robert Eliseo Ramos was formally charged with aggravated robbery under #25277 rather than the initial charges of burglary and engaging in organized criminal activity.  All three are listed as in custody at the Randall County Sheriff’s Office.

***UPDATE/ADDITIONAL DETAIL 6-9-15, 3:40 PM***The third suspect booked into jail for burglary of a habitation and engaging in organized criminal activity is Robert Eliseo Ramos, HM 20 of Amarillo.  Investigators have determined that the suspects were able to open the garage door using a remote opener stolen from a family vehicle parked beside the home.  Currently, investigators believe that the firearm used had been stolen from a vehicle in the neighborhood just prior to the burglary.

ORIGINAL RELEASE: On 6-9-14, at 3:19 AM, the resident of a home in the 7900 block of Pineridge Drive was awakened by an alarm indicating entry into his garage.  The resident checked the garage and found the door open and three Hispanic males inside.  The men fled.  The homeowner pursued but did not catch them.  He returned to his home.  He then heard a pickup nearby and went back outside.   He saw that one of the suspects was driving the pickup.  He pursued the vehicle on foot.  The pickup driver went into a muddy area near the Greenways School, where it became stuck.  The burglary victim caught up with the truck and was attempting to detain the driver when he heard a shot fired.  He then realized that the other two suspects were present, and one of them had fired a shot at him.  He discontinued his attempt to detain the driver.  All three suspects then ran.  Several APD units and the DPS helicopter were responding by this time, and an APD canine unit arrested the driver nearby.  Officers located the second suspect in the back yard of a home on Millie Place.  He was taken into custody.  Officers located a handgun at his arrest scene.  Officers located the third suspect some time later.  Initial information indicates that he had made his way to a home south of Amarillo, and asked for a ride.  A resident that did not know him took him to a home on NE 17th.  Officers had developed a lead on that address, and located him there, where he was taken into custody.  Two have been booked into the Randall County Jail.  The third man’s name will be released when he is booked.  The pickup driver was Genaro Hernan Hernandez HM 20.  He was booked for engaging in organized criminal activity and burglary of a habitation.  Gustavo Ferrusquilla HM 20 was booked for those two charges and was additionally charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
