3 Burglary Suspects Caught in the act due to an alert neighbor calling 9-1-1
On July 14, 2014 at about 5:00pm, Gardena Police officers responded to the 2600 block W 152nd in regards to a burglary in progress. An alert neighbor noticed two suspects climb through a window to their neighbor’s residence. He called 9-1-1 immediately. He watched as the suspects exited the window with property from the victim's house. Gardena officers arrived within two minutes and detained two male black adults who were sitting in their get-a-way vehicle. An additional look-out was also detained. The victim’s property was recovered inside the suspect’s vehicle.
Detectives conducted late-night search warrants at the suspects’ residences. Additional jewelry, pawn slips, and additional evidence was located, linking the suspects to burglaries in other South Bay cities.
The investigation revealed that the suspects are documented gang members and were believed to be working as a burglary crew targeting residences in Gardena, Hawthorne and surrounding communities.
If it were not for the alert neighbor calling 9-1-1 immediately and the quick response of officers, these criminals may not have been caught. We encourage all residents to keep an eye out for suspicious vehicles and persons, and call 9-1-1 if you notice anything unusual.
The suspects arrested were identified as:
TAYLOR, Ronald Dwayne – 21, Hawthorne
BLACKMON, Bryan Marquis – 20, Los Angeles
PINKNEY, Louis Charles Jr – 19, Hawthorne
