UCPD Blotter Week Ending July 9, 2014

On Thursday, 7/03/2014, at 9:59AM, Ofc. Stables and FTO Yaeger contacted a suspicious subject in area of Dyer St and Alvarado Niles Rd. As they were trying to identify the subject, he provided numerous false names. At one point the subject got up and ran. After a brief foot pursuit, officers were able to detain him, but he continued to resist officers. During the struggle, the suspect bit Ofc. Stables on the upper right arm causing a significant injury. After finally being restrained, the subject refused to identify himself. He was transported to the hospital for medical clearance and eventually Santa Rita Jail for booking. Ofc. Stables was treated for his injuries and released. After being fingerprinted at Santa Rita Jail, the subject was identified as a Parolee At Large. He was also found to have a Probation Violation Warrant out of Contra Costa County.

On Friday, 7/4/2014, the Union City Police Department responded to several complaints of illegal fireworks throughout the city. The following is a tally of incidents that occurred evening:

•Eight 55 Gallon barrels of illegal fireworks were confiscated.
•14 citations were issued for the use of illegal fireworks.
•13 arrests were made (One for an illegal fireworks related call).
•0 reported fires.

On Monday, 7/6/2014, at 3:33PM, the Fremont Police Department broadcasted information related to a robbery that occurred in their city. The vehicle was found to be registered to a subject on Starling Dr. in Union City. Union City Police Officers were dispatched to the address to determine if the vehicle had been there. Ofc. Vasicek arrived on scene within 5 minutes and noticed the vehicle was parked in the carport of the Starling Dr. address. There were two subjects matching the description of the robbery suspects standing next to the vehicle. Ofc. Vasicek attempted to detain the subjects however one fled on foot. Additional Union City Police officers arrived to assist and a total of three subjects were detained. Fremont PD responded and took over the investigation. The victim of the robbery responded and positively identified all parties involved (2 males & 1 female) the suspect vehicle, and the stolen property.

On Wednesday, 7/8/2014, at 9:05AM, an unknown suspect entered the unlocked side garage door of the victim’s residence and took a set of keys. The suspect then stole the victim’s vehicle that was parked in front of the residence. No other property was taken and the vehicle is still missing. Ofc. Mangan investigated the theft.
