Scott County Man Arrested For Child Seduction and Obstruction of Justice

Scottsburg-At around 10:00 am on today’s date, Brien Stout, 37 years old, from South Elm Street in Scottsburg, turned himself into the Scott County Circuit Court to answer to the charges of Child Seduction, C Felony; Child Seduction, D Felony and Obstruction of Justice, D Felony.

Detectives from the Indiana State Police Post at Sellersburg were contacted by the Scott County Division of Family and Children last month and requested to conduct an investigation of an allegation of Child Seduction involving a youth pastor from a Scott County Church.

During the investigation detectives discovered that Brien Stout had befriended a juvenile member of the youth group he was pastoring. He then allegedly engaged in inappropriate conduct with the juvenile in the month of June of this year. The investigation also allegedly discovered that some electronic conversations between the juvenile and Brien Stout had been tampered with.

After the initial investigation was completed it was turned over to the Scott County Prosecutor which resulted in the court appearance by Brien Stout today.

Brien Stout was transferred to the Scott County Jail after today’s hearing was completed.
