Putnam County—This evening at 4:48, Indiana State Police and Putnam County emergency agencies responded to a three vehicle crash on US 231 at County Road 700 South. The crash resulted in non-life threatening injuries to two drivers.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 2011 Dodge Charger, driven by 41-year-old Carrieanne Phegley of Paris, Illinois, was westbound on CR 700 South and attempted a left turn to proceed southbound on US 231. As she attempted the left turn, Phegley pulled into the path of a southbound Peterbuilt tractor, pulling a tank style trailer, and driven by 28-year-old Richard Yates of Park Hills, Missouri. The impact then forced the Charger into a northbound stationary on US 231, Red Peterbuilt tractor pulling a tank style trailer, and driven by 54-year-old Wayne Mossman of Jackson, Missouri.
Phegley was transported to Putnam County Hospital for treatment of internal pain. Yates complained of head pain, but refused treatment. Mossman reported no injuries. No tickets were issued.
Traffic was heavy on northbound US 231 because traffic was rerouted off of I-70 due to a fatal crash near the 30mm.
The crash was investigated by ISP Trooper Mike Laney. Assisting were multiple troopers from the Putnamville Post, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Putnam County Operation Life, and Cloverdale Fire/Rescue.
