Advisory

THIS IS A MEDIA RELEASE / COMMUNITY ALERT FROM SMPD REGARDING A SUSPICIOUS PERSON

On 07/09/14, at about 11:00 A.M., an unidentified Asian male followed the victim (a 20 year old female) and videotaped her while she walked through a business located in the 1700 block of South Delaware Street in San Mateo. Shortly thereafter, the suspect left the store. The victim exited the business and noticed the suspect standing next to her vehicle and the suspect walked away in an opposite direction. The victim then approached her vehicle and smelled a strong, unpleasant odor emitting from the interior of her vehicle. The victim saw an unknown oily liquid on her driver seat and center console. The suspect fled the area and an extensive area check for the suspect by SMPD Officers had negative results.

The suspect is described as the following: Asian male 19-25 years old, Height: 5’07” to 5’09”, Weight: 150- 175, Hair: Black and Eyes: Brown

Detectives and Officers from SMPD have done extensive canvasses and proactive policing operations, but are still trying to identify the suspect. SMPD is asking for the community’s assistance with identifying this suspect. SMPD is also investigating whether or not this same suspect was involved in similar previously reported incidents.
