Shortly after 1:30 a.m. this morning, officers responded to the report of a hit-and-run incident at Fairview Road and Baker Street. A 15-year old girl running westbound, in the south side crosswalk of the intersection against a red light, was struck by a white SUV traveling southbound through the intersection in the outside lane.

The driver of the SUV fled the scene in his vehicle and, at one point, blacked out his headlights while driving. Nearby witnesses tended to the girl, while a nearby motorist followed the SUV. Witnesses coordinated with responding police officers, who traced the suspect driver and his vehicle near 1250 Adams Avenue. The driver, 22-year old Ryota Takamatsu, was arrested for felony hit-and-run and felony DUI. The injured girl was transported to Western Medical Center, Santa Ana. The girl suffered a minor skull fracture and is in serious, but stable condition. Takamatsu was pre-booked at CMPD Jail, and will be transported to Orange County Jail, Santa Ana to be booked on $100,000 bail.
