Police Investigating Homicide on Westwood Avenue and Seeking Victim's Son as a Person of Interest
Jackson police are investigating the murder of Jeffrey Nelson, 57, at his home and want to question Nelson's son about the crime.
Around 7:30 a.m. Saturday, officers were called to a duplex at 809 Westwood Ave. to check on the welfare of Nelson after a family member became concerned. Officers arrived to find the side door ajar. There was no sign of a forced entry. Officers checked inside and found Nelson dead. He was the victim of an apparent homicide.
Investigators determined that Nelson owned a black 2001 Infiniti QX4. The SUV is missing and should have Tennessee license plate 419-NJW.
The victim's son, Clayton Jeffrey Nelson, is considered a person of interest. Nelson is a white man, 29-years-old, 7 feet 2 inches tall and weighs about 255 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes.
Clayton Nelson is possibly in the Middle Tennessee area, specifically Cheatham or Williamson County.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Clayton Nelson, the Infiniti SUV or this crime is asked to contact the Jackson Police Department's Major Crimes Bureau at 731-425-8400 or Crime Stoppers at 731-424-8477 (TIPS). Submit a cyber tip at jmcrimestoppers.org and click on “web tips”.
