Two Injured in I-69 Crash

Delaware County- This afternoon around 2:51 p.m., Troopers responded to the area of I-69 northbound around the 236 mile marker for a three vehicle crash. When they arrived they found a 2014 Hyundai Azera, which had rolled over, in the median, a 2004 Honda Accord off the side of the road with rear end damage, and a 2008 Chevrolet Uplander, which was traveling south bound, on the left shoulder.

Preliminary investigation by Sergeant Jeffrey Zeiger indicates the 2014 Hyundai Azera, driven by Tyler Stephenson, of Marion, IN, was northbound in the left lane when he fell asleep and struck the 2004 Honda Accord, driven by Jessica Ruiz, of Woodstock, Georgia, also driving in the left lane. The crash woke up Mr. Stephenson, who swerved into the median, causing the 2014 Hyundai Azera to roll over before coming to a stop. Debris from this crash struck a 2008 Chevrolet Uplander driven by Marsha Knight, of Anderson, IN.

Tyler Stephenson and a passenger in the vehicle, Odelle Skinner, were transported to IU Health’s Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN with non life threatening injuries.

Sergeant Zeiger was assisted at the scene by Daleville PD; Delaware County Sheriff’s Department; Salem Twp. Fire; and Delaware County EMS.
