At 1:13am this morning, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T.) arrested 68 year old Clyde Baker Jr. of 122 Joan Drive Forest City NC.
Baker was charged with AWDW INTENT TO KILL, ASSAULT BY POINTING A GUN, and RESISTING PUBLIC OFFICER.
This incident started earlier in the day Thursday at 8:53pm when Rutherford County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies responded to 122 Joan Drive in reference to a subject with a gun and shots being fired.
Baker refused to come out of his home and would not talk with the Sheriff’s negotiator or family members.
After several hours of failed negotiations, the decision was made for S.E.R.T. to make entry into the home.
Mr. Baker was located in the front room with a handgun.
S.E.R.T. was able to take Mr. Baker into custody without firing any shots.
Baker received a secured bond of $110,000.00.
This investigation is still ongoing.
