Modesto, CA – Multiple agencies within Stanislaus County participated in a county-wide gang sweep that resulted in multiple arrests.

On July 8th, members from the Modesto Police Department Street Gang Unit, Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, Ceres Police Department, Stanislaus County Probation, California Department of Corrections (Parole) and Central Valley Gang Impact Task Force conducted numerous probation and parole compliance checks on known documented gang members. Their efforts also included proactive gang enforcement stops which developed into multiple felony arrests.

A total of 12 arrests were made, of which 4 were felony charges. The charges for these arrests included drug possession, identity theft, burglary and warrants. A total of 27 probation searches were conducted at 22 separate locations. Sergeant Brandon Gillespie of the Street Gang Unit said, “It’s important to conduct these searches to ensure gang members are in compliance with the terms of their probation. We hope being proactive will prevent future crimes from occurring.”

The purpose of gang sweeps is to take a professional and unified stance against criminal street gang violence in Stanislaus County. With ongoing proactive enforcement and high visibility, Law Enforcement agencies send a clear message that gang violence and activity will not be tolerated.
