The Janesville Police Department have received three reports of suspicious adult males attempting to enter homes with exsisting security systems home owners. They have been representing themselves as a security system employee. They are requesting to come into the house to check the exsisting security system to make sure it is working properly. No thefts or issues have occurred however the residents felt uncomfortable with the unsolicited contacts.
All three homeowners had not contacted the security company for issues with their security systems.
Here are some tips on door to door solicitations:
Don't let someone into your home you do not know or have properly identified.
Be careful of any solicitation or service that you did not call for.
All door to door sales staff need to register with the City of Janesville.
Report any suspicious activity/people to the police department.
