Tuesday July 1

Residential Burglary – 900 Block Nettle Place
Time: 1400-1430
Unknown suspect forced entry into the residence via a rear door and stole electronics and jewelry. NOTE: If you have an alarm detection device that notifies you when doors are opened at your residence while you are away, notify DPS so the residence can be checked.

Wednesday July 2

Attempted Murder/Domestic Violence – 1200 Block Coronado
Time: 0200
DPS personnel responded to the residence on a reported medical issue. Upon arrival it was discovered that the victim suffered a stab wound to his chest. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Investigation determined that the victim and his girlfriend were involved in an argument when the girlfriend stabbed the victim. The girlfriend was arrested at the scene and booked into County Jail.

Mutual Aid – Mountain View
Time: 1400
Mountain View PD requested mutual aid assistance as they were dealing with a suicidal subject that was armed with a handgun. MVPD requested Sunnyvale DPS’ armored vehicle, in addition to staffing for perimeter and evacuation assignments. SDPS was on scene for several hours until the situation ended.

Vehicle Fire – 150 E. El Camino
Time: 1519
Units responded on a report of a vehicle fully involved in fire, within the parking lot of 150 E. El Camino. The fire was extinguished, but the vehicle was a total loss. It was determined a family of three resided in the vehicle, none of whom was injured in the fire. DPS personnel worked with Red Cross to obtain assistance for the family.

Thursday July 3

Apartment Fire – 101 W. Weddell
Time: 0637
Units responded to a fire alarm at the apartment complex. Upon arrival, crews discovered a dryer fire on the third floor of the complex. The fire was extinguished and did not extend beyond the dryer area.

Friday July 4

Possession of a Destructive Device – 700 Block E. Duane
Time: 2157
An officer on patrol heard a loud explosion coming from the area of an apartment complex. While investigating the explosion, the officer located two adult males who had lit a mortar-type device which exploded while they were still holding the device. Both subjects suffered major injuries to their hands, including fingers that were blown off. Both subjects were treated at the scene and transported to trauma hospitals. The case is being referred to the District Attorney’s Office for lighting a destructive device near an inhabited dwelling.

Saturday July 5

Suicidal Subject – San Zeno Cal Train Station
Time: 1448
An adult male was on the roof of the Cal Train station, threatening to jump off the roof in a suicide attempt. Personnel accessed the roof via an aerial truck ladder and convinced the subject not to jump. The subject was placed on a mental health hold and booked into County Jail for an outstanding warrant.

Under the Influence of Drugs and Resisting Arrest – 1100 Block Ayala
Time: 2122
Officers responded to the 1100 block Ayala on a report of a fight. Upon arrival the three subjects involved ran from officers. The subjects were subsequently stopped and determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance. All three subjects were arrested and booked into County Jail for being under the influence, resisting arrest, and probation violation.

Sunday July 6

Felony DUI – Fair Oaks Park
Time: 0100
Officers responded to Fair Oaks Park on a report of a major injury collision at Fair Oaks Park. Upon arrival it was determined the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and left the roadway, knocking over a light pole and into the bleachers at the park. The vehicle suffered major damage but all three occupants were able to get out of the car. All three subjects sustained moderate injuries as a result of the collision and were transported to hospitals for treatment. The driver was determined to be under the influence and was arrested for Felony DUI.

Monday July 7

Armed Robbery – Hollenbeck and El Camino
Time: 0001
The victim was walking on Hollenbeck, south of El Camino when he was approached by an unknown suspect from behind. The suspect grabbed the victim’s gold chain from his neck and his wallet from his pants. During the altercation, the suspect stabbed the victim. The victim was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
