OSBI Agent Works Tyrone Homicide

This morning, the Tyrone Police Chief requested OSBI assistance with a homicide case in that small, panhandle town. June 30th, an employee at Jim’s Auto & Salvage on Highway 54 found the owner 70-year-old James Edward Vitkowski lying on the floor inside his business. Vitkowski was transported to a local hospital and then flown to a Kansas hospital. This morning, Vitkowski died from what appears to be blunt force trauma to the head. His body will be transported to the Oklahoma Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Oklahoma City for an autopsy. An OSBI agent is working to determine the motive behind an assault that turned into homicide. If anyone has information helpful to this case, please contact the OSBI at 1-800-522-8017.
