A large scale drill conducted at AV Mall
On Thursday, July 10th, the Palmdale Sheriff Station has joined efforts with the Antelope Valley Mall to conduct an Active Shooter exercise. The exercise has been designed to meet both agencies’ training requirements. This training exercise is a field exercise utilizing assets from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) and the Antelope Valley Mall, in conjunction with the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) and American Medical Response (AMR).
The purpose of this drill is to test our training and lead us to develop an improvement plan for future training which ultimately will prepared us in the event we are faced with an actual active shooter. All participating agencies will be working together and playing a role in this large scale exercise.
Between the hours 5:00am to 7:30am residents surrounding the Antelope Valley Mall may hear simulated gunshots as well as loud explosions. We apologize for the inconvenience however this type of drill must be conducted to keep the citizen of the Antelope Valley safe.
