Indiana State Police Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Crash
Indianapolis, IN- The passenger on a motorcycle was killed and the driver critically injured this afternoon when the motorcycle they were riding struck a guard rail.
This afternoon at approximately 7:25 p.m., Indiana State Police were dispatched to a one vehicle personal injury crash involving a motorcycle.
Preliminary investigation and witness statements revealed that Kyle Lovell, 22, of Tustin, Michigan was operating a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle I-70 EB on the ramp to I-465 NB. According to information gained at the scene, the female passenger, Ashley Drake, 22, of Six Lakes, Michigan, appeared to adjust her seating which caused the driver to lose control of the motorcycle. The motorcycle struck a guard rail and Drake was thrown from the bike. Drake was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Marion County Coroner’s office. Lovell was transported to Eskanazi Hospital in critical condition.
Both riders were wearing helmets.
