Search underway for man who escaped from LCSO at Laurens County Memorial Hospital.

The Laurens County Sheriff's Office is searching for 27 year old Michael Brandon Bowie who escaped from the custody of a deputy at the Laurens County Memorial Hospital.

Bowie was arrested and charged with Criminal Domestic Violence as a result of a domestic incident that was reported to E911 this morning (July 4) at 7:49 am on Shrine Club Road in Waterloo. After the arrest Bowie was transported to the Laurens County Memorial Hospital for complaints of chest pains. Bowie was treated and released from the hospital around 10:08 am at which time he escaped while handcuffed as the deputy was attempting to place him in the patrol car.

Bowie fled on foot to a nearby neighborhood where he broke into a home and stole a set of keys to this victim's vehicle. The victim was in the home sleeping at the time.

A deputy responding to the escape noticed the vehicle leaving the scene at a high rate of speed and relayed the information to assisting officers. An officer with Clinton Department of Public Safety spotted the vehicle and initiated a pursuit that ended on American Legion Road in Ninety-Six, SC. The vehicle was not involved in an accident and may have ran out of gas.

Bowie fled on foot and is presently on the loose. LCSO is being assisted by numerous agencies including Ninety-Six PD, SCHP, Clinton Dept. of Public Safety, Greenwood County Sheriff's Office, State Transport Police, DNR, and the Newberry County Sheriff's Office.

Michael Brandon Bowie is a white male, 27 years of age, 5'09" tall, 190 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Other charges pending on Bowie will include Escape, Burglary and Grand Larceny.

Bowie should be considered dangerous and has prior convictions for Criminal Domestic Violence, Traffic Offenses, Burglary, and Drugs.

Anyone with any information to Bowie's whereabouts is urged to call 911 or your local law enforcement agency. You may also call Laurens County Crime Stoppers at 864-682-7463 (68-CRIME).
