Traffic Crash in Marcellus Township

Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports that on 7/03/2014 at 1956 hrs his office was called to investigate a single motorcycle accident that occurred in Marcellus Township on M40 Hwy North of Dutch Settlement. 71-year-old South Haven resident, Jerry Hartsfield, was traveling north bound on M 40 when he lost control of his motorcycle causing him to go off the roadway and flipping his motorcycle into a ditch. Hartsfield was airlifted to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo for treatment. He is listed in critical condition at this time. A helmet was not worn and alcohol may be a factor. This case remains under investigation.
