Kokomo Man Arrested on Multiple Financial Related Felonies

(Grant County, IN)-A Kokomo man was arrested this afternoon on four felony counts stemming from a four month long investigation conducted by Indiana State Police Detective Mike Tarrh.

According to Tarrh, in February of this year, a complaint was made by the Grant County State Bank alleging that their institution had been the victim of fraudulent financial activity.

The investigation revealed that in 2013, Charles Scott Defabritis, 50 from Kokomo had obtained several farm loans totaling approximately $600,000 using false information and collateral. Payments were allegedly not made on the outstanding balance of the loans and even though some property has been repossessed, the total loss remains approximately $300,000.

The Grant County Prosecutor has charged Defabritis with the following:

• Corrupt Business Influence (2 Counts), Class C Felony
• Fraud on a Financial Institution, Class C Felony
• Theft, Class D Felony

Defabritis was taken into custody without incident and incarcerated in the Grant County Jail in lieu of a $20,000 bond.

All Suspects Are Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty in a Court of Law
