DUI Enforcement over the 4th of July weekend.

Incident:          4th of JULY WEEKEND DUI ENFORCEMENT

This holiday weekend, Officers from the Arcadia Police Department will be participating in two multi-agency DUI enforcement operations.  First, officers will conduct a DUI saturation patrol during the evening hours of Thursday, July 3rd.  Additionally, Arcadia PD will host a multi-agency sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint during the evening hours of Saturday, July 5th.  Each enforcement operation is made possible in accordance with a grant issued and administered by the Glendora Police Department from the Office of Traffic Safety, as part of the AVOID the 100 DUI Campaign, East-Los Angeles County.  Participants will include officers and personnel from the Arcadia, Baldwin Park School, Monrovia, Sierra Madre and Los Angeles Police Departments; as well as, agents from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

The goal of our enforcement efforts is to promote public safety and increase awareness of the dangers associated with drinking and driving.  This will be accomplished by providing a highly visible enforcement and publicity campaign, in order to deter intoxicated drivers from getting behind the wheel and driving.  Through these efforts, we also seek to reduce the number of injuries and deaths associated with collisions involving intoxicated drivers.

We would like to remind the public of the dangers associated with drinking and driving.  It simply is not worth it to drive while impaired.  As we celebrate freedom this weekend, let’s pledge to keep our holiday free from injuries and deaths caused by drunk drivers.  Celebrate responsibly and use a sober designated driver.  If you see a drunk driver, say something; Call 9-1-1.
