Advisory

Child Abuse-Suspect in custody

On 07/02/2014 at 6:12 pm Officers Schmidt and Bier from The Janesville Police Department were dispatched to 1306 N Washington Street apartment 1 for a report of a possible child abuse. The information was coming from a source third hand from outside the city of Janesville. When officers arrived on scene the children were not present. The children were walking with an adult from the residence in the 600 block of South Main Street when Officer Bier located them.

The children were found to have a series of injuries that were visible on their arms, legs, heads and faces. Through the course of the investigation the officers learned that there were additional injuries that were not initially visible. The investigation revealed that the injuries were inflicted over an eight hour period of time and a series of instruments may have been used. The children were transported to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center for treatment of their injuries. The Janesville Police Department Detective Bureau and Identification Bureau responded to assist with the investigation.

At approximately 10:30 pm a search warrant was executed at the residence in an effort to recover instruments which were used to cause a series of blunt force trauma injuries to the two children. Several items of evidence were recovered.

The children have been placed with Child Protective Services and are now safe. Brandon L Quinn is currently in custody at the Rock County Jail on a charge of physical abuse to a child causing bodily harm under circumstances that there is a probability of causing great bodily harm. The investigation is ongoing pending additional interviews and the evaluation of evidence. Additional charges may be possible at that time.
