Detectives Arrest Felon for Counterfeit Bills, Ammunition, Illegal Weapon, Drugs and Burglary

On 07/02/2014, at approximately 8:30AM, Detectives from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Property Crimes Investigation Unit arrested Shawn Tel Parker, 43 years old, a resident of Sebastopol, for a variety of felony charges stemming from him passing counterfeit bills.

The case originated when an employee at Lark Drug Pharmacy in Guerneville reported to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office that a man had passed a counterfeit $100 bill on 06/26/2014 to purchase some misc. items. Additionally, several other local merchants had reported they too were victims of a person passing counterfeit $100 bills.

Detectives obtained surveillance video of the suspect passing the counterfeit $100 bill at Lark Drug Pharmacy and a patrol deputy recognized the suspect as Shawn Tel Parker. Detectives found Parker to be on felony probation stemming from a drug possession conviction.

On the evening of 07/01/2014, Detectives went to Parker’s residence, but he was not home. Since Parker was on probation, Detectives searched his home. There they located a large amount of ammunition, which was seized. Since Parker in on felony probation and a convicted felon, he is not allowed to possess ammunition.

On 07/02/2014, at approximately 8:30AM, Property Crimes Detectives spotted Parker at a gas station on Guerneville Road at Marlow Road in Santa Rosa. Detectives arrested Parker without incident.

When Parker was arrested, he had in his possession two additional counterfeit $100 bills, approximately 1.3 grams of crystal methamphetamine, and an illegal Sap (a weighted leather weapon). Parker was booked into the Sonoma County jail for violation of Felony Probation, Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine, Commercial Burglary, Passing a Counterfeit Bill, Possession of a Counterfeit Bill, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, and Possession of an Illegal Weapon.

Parker has a No Bail hold due to violation of his probation.
