New York Sex Offender arrested For Failing to Register in Gibson County. 
On July 2nd, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. Sergeant Bruce L. Vanoven was dispatched to 12848 South Weather Rock Drive in Haubstadt, Indiana to investigate a tip that an out of state sex offender had been living there without registering with the Gibson County Sheriff`s Office.
During an investigation on scene Sgt. Vanoven discovered that Ronald D. Preston Jr age 59, of Sharon, South Carolina had been living at the Weather Rock Campground since June 15, 2014. Upon speaking with Communications Officer Lisa Viton she advised that there was no documentation recording his address with the Sheriff`s Office. At that point Mr. Preston was placed into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail where he was charged wih Failure to Register a Level 6 Felony.
Upon arriving on station Communications Officer Lisa Viton revealed to Sgt. Vanoven that upon running his criminal history record she discovered six outstanding warrants for Failure to Register out of VIrginia.
Mr. Preston remains in custody without a bond.
