The Altus Police Department has requested OSBI investigate a police-involved shooting that occurred this morning inside 215 East Live Oak. David Barton, 45, reportedly pointed what appeared to be a firearm at police. One Altus officer fired several rounds from his service weapon striking Barton once in the left shoulder. The wound is not life threatening. Once the OSBI investigation is completed the case agent will submit a written report to the district attorney’s office. The D.A. will determine if the shooting was justified.
