(Fort Wayne, IN)- An Indiana State Police Detective who has dedicated the last 33 years of his life to the service of the citizens of the State of Indiana has recently announced his retirement from the Department.

Detective Harry N. Nix was appointed to the Department on December 21, 1980 as a graduate of the 40th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy. He was initially assigned to the Indiana State Police Post in Lowell where he patrolled Lake and Porter Counties for six years.

In March of 1986, Nix transferred to the Fort Wayne Post where he was assigned patrol duties in both Steuben and DeKalb Counties. In April of 1999, Nix was promoted to the rank of Detective in the Criminal Investigation Division at the Fort Wayne Post, a position he held until his retirement.

During his career, Nix has been an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician, a Field Training Officer, a Crash Re-constructionist, and a member of both the Tactical Intervention Platoon and the Clandestine Laboratory Teams. He and his wife, who are residents of Angola, have four grown children, each of whom proudly serves or has served his/her country in the Armed Forces, and several grandchildren.

Nix is pictured first in 1981 and then in 2010.
