DPS Blotter June 24 - June 30

Welcome to the DPS Blotter. These messages are being sent out to raise community awareness of public safety events occurring within our community, educate the public about safe practices, and to encourage community engagement by reporting criminal or suspicious behavior to DPS. Wednesday June 25

Robbery – 1055 E. Evelyn
Time: 2151
While in the parking lot of the apartment complex, the victim was approached by an unknown suspect who simulated holding a handgun. The victim was robbed of cash and jewelry.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 296 N. Fair Oaks
Time: 2145
Officers responded to the parking lot of the Chevron station on a report of a subject begging for money from customers. The subject was associated with a vehicle that was reported stolen from San Jose. The subject was arrested and booked into County Jail.


Thursday June 26

DUI & Hit-and-Run – Mathilda and Ross
Time: 0023
An officer attempted traffic stop on a vehicle which attempted to evade and collided into another vehicle, causing injury to the other driver. The subject then fled on foot. The subject was apprehended and booked into County Jail for felony DUI, felony Hit-and-Run, and evading arrest.

Outside Assist – Harleigh and Portos, Saratoga
Time: 0318
The Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Sunnyvale K9 unit in searching a vehicle for narcotics. The K9 located methamphetamine in the vehicle.

Major Injury Accident – El Camino and Helen
Time: 1541
A pedestrian crossing El Camino near the intersection of Helen was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound El Camino. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital in critical condition. The investigation is being handled by the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT).

Saturday June 28

Residential Burglary – 800 Block Dartshire
Time: 1830-2250
Unknown suspect entered the residence via an unlocked window and stole checks and jewelry.

Sunday June 29

Vandalism – 1080 Mango
Time: 0007
A juvenile male was arrested for marking graffiti at Sunnyvale Middle School. The juvenile was released to his parents.

DUI/Hit & Run – Almanor Ave.
Time: 0300
Officers responded to Almanor Ave on a report of a Hit-and-Run collision. Officers followed a debris trail to the parking lot of 575 N. Pastoria where the vehicle was located. The driver was arrested for DUI and Hit-and-Run and the passenger in the vehicle was arrested for outstanding warrants.

Fatal Accident – Central Expressway & Mathilda Off-Ramp
Time: 1058
While on patrol, an officer witnesses a vehicle plunge from the dead-end of Arques down onto the Mathilda Off-Ramp from westbound Central Expressway. The vehicle landed on its roof and the solo occupant had to be extricated from the vehicle by fire personnel. The occupant was transported to a local hospital and subsequently died the following day. The cause of the collision is currently under investigation.

Residential Burglary – 300 Block Jackson
Time: 1500-1915
An unknown suspect entered the residence via an open rear window and stole electronics and jewelry.

Stabbing – 700 Block Reseda
Time: 2200
During an altercation with a group of subjects, a juvenile male was stabbed in the arm and transported to the hospital for treatment. Through investigation, officers locate the involved parties. Three adults and two juveniles were arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy.

Monday June 30

Mutual Aid – San Jose
Time: 1524
San Jose Fire Department requested Mutual Aid for station coverage as they were battling a couple of multi-alarm grass fires. Two Sunnyvale engines and a Battalion Chief provided coverage in San Jose for several hours.
