Advisory

Fireworks

With Fourth of July fast approaching the Worth Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind the residents and visiting guests of our Village, that fireworks are illegal in the Village of Worth and State of Illinois.

The term "fireworks" does NOT include: snakes, glowworms, smoke devices, sparklers, party poppers, booby traps, snappers, trick matches, cigarette loads, and auto burglar alarms, toy pistols, toy canes, toy guns, or any other devises in which paper or plastic caps containing 25 hundredths (0.25) grain or less of explosive compound are used.

Individuals found to be in possession of illegal fireworks will be ticketed and have their fireworks confiscated. Confiscated fireworks will be turned over to the Cook County Bomb Squad for destruction.

Parents are reminded of the Anti-vandalism and Parental Responsibility Ordinance ( VO 10-8-2 ) - it shall be unlawful for the residing parent or legal guardian of a minor to fail to exercise proper parental responsibility over said minor.

We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday.
