Pursuit lands Quincy man in jail
MOSES LAKE, Wash. (18JUNE2014) - A Quincy man is in jail after trying to outrun sheriff’s deputies yesterday.
Motorists called 9-1-1 around 3:30 p.m. after part of a trailer load began falling onto southbound State Route 17 near mile post 65. Part of the falling load included a sink which struck another vehicle. The trailer was being towed by a truck driven by Joe M. Yancey, 46, of Quincy.
Deputies got behind the truck and trailer about three miles down the road. A pursuit started, reaching speeds of 80 miles per hour. Yancey bailed out the vehicle in a field at Road D.5-NE and McConihe Road. Deputies searched the area, and a Moses Lake police officer found Yancey at Connelly Park.
The trailer Yancey was towing was listed as stolen out of Spokane Valley.
Yancey was lodged in the Grant County Jail for outstanding warrants for failure to appear – driving while license suspended and DUI; suspicion of felony eluding and possession of a stolen vehicle.
The investigation continues.
