Marion woman (Nicole Effler) charged with using bad check to pay for dog grooming services 
Detective Andy Manis of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Nicole Buchanan Effler, 33, of Ashworth Road in Marion, with one felony count of obtaining property by false pretense.
On April 9, Effler took her poodle to be groomed at Pet Works, owned by Sharon Young, of Harmony Grove Road in Nebo.
Manis said Effler paid with a $35 check on an account that had insufficient funds. He added that Effler told Young she would go to the ATM and return with cash but never did.
