Help the City’s animal shelter remain a no kill shelter - Adopt pet dogs and cats for only $25 today through July 6!

The KC Pet Project, which manages the City of Kansas City, Missouri’s animal shelter, has accepted more than 900 new homeless and abandoned dogs and cats in just the past 27 days. Due to this record-breaking number, the KC Pet Project’s third annual “Red, White and Woof” pet adoption event will begin early.

From Friday, June 27 through Sunday, July 6, many dog and cat adoption fees will be reduced to $25. Adoption fees include the spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, micro-chipping, 30 days of free pet insurance and more – a $400 value!

KC Pet Project operates three metro animal shelters, including the City’s location:

  • City’s Animal Shelter: 4400 Raytown Road, Kansas City, MO
    Hours: Monday-Saturday: Noon-6 p.m.; Sunday: Noon-5 p.m.

  • Zona Rosa Pet Adoption Center: 7351 N.W. 87th Terrace Kansas City, MO
    Hours: Monday-Wednesday: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Thursday-Saturday: 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sunday: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

  • Petco Pet Adoption Center: 11620 W. 95th St. Overland Park, KS
    Hours: Monday-Friday: 11 a.m.-7 p.m.; Saturday: 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sunday: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

KC Pet Project asks the community to consider adopting a pet to help them remain a no kill shelter.

“We are housing animals everywhere at our shelter – in offices, in closets, even in the basement,” said Teresa Johnson, CEO and executive director of KC Pet Project. “Animals are coming in daily by the dozens and our small, outdated shelter simply cannot keep up with this staggering amount of homeless and abandoned pets.”

Individuals may also foster a shelter pet. To get started, fill out the foster application at http://kcpetproject.org/online-foster-application/.
