Jennings County: This afternoon a three vehicle crash resulted in the death of a North Vernon man and injured two others. According to Trooper Matt Holley, at approximately 4:15 this afternoon a 2004 Toyota Prius driven by 43 year old Marcea L. Oetting of Orlando, FL was stopped facing eastbound on U.S. 50 at the new S.R. 750 bypass preparing to make a left turn then proceeded into the intersection failing to yield to a 2012 Ford F250 pulling a 25 foot flatbed trailer driven by 21 year old Zachary S. Ziegler of Westport, IN. The F250 struck the Toyota then continued into the westbound lane where it struck a 1996 Buick driven by 52 year old Gregory E. Green of North Vernon. The force of the impact was so severe the Buick split in two. Green was pronounced dead at the scene. Both Ziegler and Oetting suffered minor bruising and lacerations.
The crash remains under investigation. Tpr. Holley was assisted by Jennings County Sheriff’s Department, Spencer Township Fire Department, Jennings County EMS, and Jennings County Coroner.
