Advisory

Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department Riverbank Police Services

Riverbank, CA-Stanislaus Sheriff’s Department Riverbank Police Services and the City of Riverbank are partnering with local businesses and the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to provide a Bicycle Rodeo at the Riverbank Farmers Market on July 2, 2014 at 5:00 pm. Deputies and staff from the Riverbank Police Services will be at the ready with a bicycle course that will help youth ride safely on bicycle.

Riverbank Police Services will provide free bicycle licensing for any bicycle unregistered in the City of Riverbank. Police Chief Erin Kiely advises every bicycle should be licensed, in case of lost or stolen bicycles, so that serial numbers can be matched with the owners of found or recovered bicycles.

Bicycle helmets will be required for participation. Bicycle Helmets will be provided for those who are without them through private donations and the California Office of Transportation. Helmets save lives and prevent or reduce the likelihood of injuries in bicycle accidents. Bicycles were provided through OTS grant and a generous donation from Target community safety funding.

Stanislaus Consolidated Fire will have fire staff on scene, providing free check-up on bicycles and will be on hand looking for potential safety hazards.

Riverbank has a great number of citizens and local businesses that have partnered with Riverbank Police Services to make this event a success. Target, the Riverbank City Council, Stanislaus Consolidated Fire, and a contingency of Riverbank Citizen Volunteers help make this event more successful every year.

Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

We look forward to seeing everyone out at the event!

Please contact Deputy Gary Vernon of the Riverbank Police Services at 209-863-7142 or via email at [email protected] for any questions.
