Fireworks are illegal in the city of Torrance
The Torrance Police Department would like all of you to have a fun and safe 4th of July weekend!
ALL FIREWORKS ARE ILLEGAL IN TORRANCE! As many of you already know, during this 4th of July holiday season, fireworks are being sold in surrounding cities but not in Torrance. The reason Torrance does not allow firework sales in the city is because they are illegal.
In addition to several California Health and Safety Code and Penal Code sections regulating the possession and use of fireworks, the City of
Torrance strictly regulates the possession and use of fireworks in its municipal code.
Torrance Municipal Code 45.6.27 strictly regulates the possession, storage, offering for sale, exposing for sale, selling at retail, giving, furnishing, using or exploding any fireworks within the City of Torrance.
Any person caught with any type of firework/explosive device will be subjected to being cited under the above listed sections and face a minimum first-time fine of $100.00. The fines increase for subsequent violations.
This year, as in years past, officers from the Torrance Police Department will be conducting special enforcement operations with the sole purpose of identifying, locating and citing all those who are in violation of any firework ordinance.
The Torrance Police Department will also be out in force throughout the city including Torrance Beach and will be enforcing all alcohol, fireworks and other public safety issues.
Have a great 4th of July but remember to be safe.
