6/24/14, press release: Vehicle Collision
On 24 June 2014 at approximately 0848 the Burlington Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a motor vehicle accident between a bus and a car on Pine Street near Locust Street. 911 callers also reported that an operator involved in the collision was unresponsive. Members of the Burlington Police Department and Burlington Fire Department subsequently responded.
Based on the initial investigation it is believed that Henriette Crowley suffered a medical emergency and lost consciousness as she traveled south on Pine Street in her sedan. As a result, Crowley’s vehicle drifted into the northbound lane of Pine Street crashing head on into a Champlain College transportation vehicle owned by Student Transportation of Vermont/Mountain Transit. Crowley’s vehicle also caused damage to an unoccupied vehicle parked on the east side of Pine Street. At the time of the collision the Champlain College bus was transporting one passenger. The driver of the bus and the passenger were not injured.
Crowley was extracted from the vehicle by BFD and transported to the FAHC emergency room for medical screening. At the time of this release Crowley is still being medically evaluated at FAHC.
Traffic on Pine Street between Howard Street and Locust Street was closed for approximately 1 hour. The Champlain College bus and Crowley’s sedan were both towed from the collision scene.
