On Saturday, June 21, 2014, a Black Dodge Charger was stolen from the occupant at Gun Point (Hijacked). On Monday, June 23, 2014, officers of the Elite Cobra Unit observed the vehicle in the area of the America’s Best Value Inn and Suites. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver refused to stop. A short pursuit ensued resulting in the driver of the vehicle losing control of the vehicle at the I-75 Overpass. The driver and passenger of the stolen vehicle fled the scene on foot. Officers of The Cobra Unit quickly apprehended both subjects. The driver of the vehicle, Darren Hatcher, was arrested and charged with Theft by Receiving Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Assault x 3, Fleeing from the Police, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Obstruction of an Officer, Failure to Yield the Right of Way, Driving on the Wrong Side of the Roadway, Reckless Driving, Aggressive Driving and No License. The Driver, Darren Hatcher, also fit the description of the suspect that took the vehicle at Gun Point on Saturday June 21, 2014, additional charges for that incident are still pending. The passenger, Chaquille Johnson, was charged with Theft by Receiving Motor Vehicle and Obstruction of an Officer. Photos of both suspects are attached.
