Hot Air Balloon Lands on Sun City Streets, no injuries or damage

For the second time in five days, The Huntley Police Department along with the Huntley Fire Protection District responded to an emergency landing of a hot air balloon. Today, the Huntley Police Department received a call at 7:26 am of a hot air balloon that had crashed landed in a yard on Windy Prairie Drive. Emergency personnel responded to the area and located a hot air balloon that had landed in the street, near the intersection of Windy Prairie Drive and Songbird Lane. The balloon landed safely and there were no injuries or damage. The balloon is operated by Sky Soaring from Hampshire and had three passengers, in addition to the pilot.

The pilot stated that the wind was carrying the balloon and he did not want to cross Illinois Route 47 and get near the power lines along Interstate 90. The balloon was able to be set down without incident and the support vehicle arrived within minutes to assist in the removal of the balloon.

On Friday, June 20 at approximately 8:21 pm, a hot air balloon operated by International Balloon Management landed at Pinecrest Golf Course with three occupants. One passenger suffered minor injuries as a gust of wind blew the balloon after it had landed. The balloon caused damage to a tree and a portion of the golf course.
