6/22/2014, First Degree Aggravated Domestic Assault

On June 22, 2014 at approximately 7:40 AM, members of the Burlington Police Department responded to a residence on Venus Avenue. The female caller indicated that her brother was attempting to stab her with a knife. Prior to arrival, police had learned that the male subject, identified as Chad Brown, had fled the residence into a wooded area, potentially armed with the knife.

Upon arrival, a perimeter was established and a K9 track was developing from the residence in question. Police almost initially encountered Chad Brown as he emerged from the woods. Brown was uncooperative with verbal orders from police officers, and was eventually taken into custody with assistance from the K9 on the scene.

As a result of the physical confrontation, two Burlington Police Officers were injured, treated by medical personnel, and later released from the ER.

The female victim in this matter was also evaluated by medical personnel for multiple lacerations to her torso.

Chad Brown was lodged at the Chittenden Correctional Facility.

6/23/2014 UPDATE:

The names of the two officers injured in this matter are Corporal Trent Martin and Corporal Dominic Brodeur.

Arraignment for Chad Brown is scheduled for today at 1030.
